Our Gospel

Loved by God the Father...

The Gospel begins with the love of God the Father. He knew us before the foundation of the world, even before we had done anything right or wrong -- and yet he loved us. He loved us before we were loveable. The whole plan of redemption was the Father's plan. He designed it and he initiated it. The Gospel, at its very core, is the news that we can be reconciled to our Great Father who loved us from the beginning.

Redeemed by God the Son...

The Gospel, which is rooted in the Father's love, is manifested in God the Son, Jesus Christ. It was the Son that came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died an unjust death on the cross. He took our sin on himself and died in our place -- taking what we deserve so that we could inherit what he deserved. Jesus not only died for our sins, he burst from the grave with the power of sin, death, and hell, at his command. He has gone into heaven, crowned as King, and sits at the right hand of the Father with the whole world belonging to him. The Gospel is our firm hope that we have been united to Christ in his death and resurrection and we can only lose that salvation when Christ loses his!

Raised by God the Spirit...

The Gospel began with the Father, was embodied in the Son, and is now applied by the Spirit. Now that Jesus Christ is with the Father, he has sent his Spirit to breathe life into us. This same Spirit filled the old temple, empowered Christ for ministry, and raised him from the dead. He is the living and abiding presence of God that transforms all that he touches. This Holy Spirit is the power that acts in us to make us look more and more like Christ. The Gospel contains the assurance that there is a change-Agent that sets us apart for salvation and marks us as belonging to the Father.

Good News for Us...

This Gospel means that we can be forgiven of our sins and healed from our dysfunction.  We come to Christ a mess and he is the One who puts us back together.  We cling dearly to the work of Christ our Savior.  We rest wholly in the love of God our Father.  And we live fully in the power of God the Spirit.
